Surbiton Works is a critique of the development of a prominent high-street site in Surbiton which is currently being turned into a series of high end apartments spread over two blocks. The project hypothesises that the rear residential block is maintained as it is currently being built, being developed into flats, but the front road facing block is left empty leaving the structural skeleton standing there. Surbiton Works appropriates that bare structural frame to insert a series of workshops, studios and co working spaces which aim to build from the ground and community, playing on the rich ceramic heritage of this corner of London.
